Harry Potter Speakeasy šŸ¤«āš”

I recently discovered that there is a speakeasy nearby where I live, called Allusion, and they specialize in themed cocktails. There are 2 locations, actually, but they change themes every few months. The theme for this quarter is Harry Potter, so I knew that I absolutely had to try it out! I invited my friend who also loves Harry Potter and made reservations for Monday night.

I was very happy that my friend and I were on the same wavelength as far as what to wear, haha. We didn't discuss it, but we both had incorporated our respective house colors. :) (She wore red to represent Gryffindor, and I, yellow for Hufflepuff.) We even had the same lightweight black cardigan in case we got cold!

They go full out with their decorations, and you could tell there is a lot of dedication to creating the right atmosphere. -A lot of details for Harry Potter fans to pick up on, from the floating candles and pumpkins that make you feel like you're in the Great Hall, to the flying keys (my personal fav), Cornish pixies, Umbridge's wall of cat plates, lol, spiders crawling on the wall, the "stained glass" mermaids from the prefect's bathrooms, and the ominous writing on the wall of "The chamber of secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware...". It's awesome! To enter the bar you pass by the cupboard under the stairs and wall of portraits to go through the door with the portrait of the fat lady.

Now onto the drinks! The menus are presented as Hogwarts acceptance letters, which I think is a really nice touch. :) This location has a total of 18 themed drinks and offers food you can order from the restaurant they are connected to. (In this case, the Wobbly Olive.) Collectively, my friend and I ordered 7 of their cocktails, and we split an order of truffle poutine. I have been daydreaming about that truffle poutine everyday- it had SUCH a great flavor! šŸ¤¤

To start we each got a fizzing whizbee which had pop rocks around the rim! Very fun!

My friend got a butterbeeršŸŗ (classic!), and I ordered the Helga Hufflepuff. šŸ’›ā˜ŗ -This drink was, in the most literal sense of the word, sensational! The drink was garnished with a buzz button, and the bartender explained what was going to happen once I ate it, as others who have tried it before thought they were having an allergic reaction to the drink, haha! The buzz button has a bitter taste when chewing it, but accentuates the flavors in the drink, numbs you're mouth for 4-5 minutes, and makes you salivate. It was like a real-life magic trick, very fitting for the theme! I was amazed! šŸ¤©

Next, she got the Veritaserum which came in this cool potion bottle and apparently tasted exactly as one would expect from a potion!

I couldn't help myself and ordered the Goblet of Fire šŸ”„. 10/10 for presentation and wow factor.

To finish our journey of magical cocktails, we split a Dolores Umbridge, a sweet, pink, tropical milk punch with rum served in a prim and proper teacup. We would pass it back and forth, taking a sip until it was gone! šŸŒøšŸ’•

Quite a hefty bill, but it was totally worth it in our opinion as it is such a unique, one-of-a-kind experience! I would love to go back to try some of their other enticing, magical beverages, but I am grateful to have been able to visit even just this once. :) #mischiefmanaged

Until next time! āœØ -Alexandria
